Inflation the tax that keeps on taking.

For about 15 years I believed that the Fair Tax was the best way to gain control of the out of control Congress and slow down spending. President Obama and both Houses of Congress the last few years have proved me wrong.

I thought that if the tax was visible and high enough that the Congress would have to address spending. At least to the point that they would try to make all the government programs more accountable.  Hopefully, more efficient and pair down the departments instead of expanding them. However, I have seen that they do not have to pass a tax increase to raise our taxes. No, they just have to continue spending, inflation will raise the tax revenue for them … eventually. Maybe, with luck inflation will outstrip their spending,  then they will be able to brag about a budget surplus again. Meanwhile, the middle class is getting crushed. Add to that another hidden tax called ACA.

Of course, they were not supposed to get the blame on that. The blame was preordained to rest on the backs of the rich insurance providers, employers and hopefully doctors. They were the one that was designed to take your insurance and choices away from you. Not the responsible, caring, and all powerful people in government.

I am just tired of the manipulation. Nothing will get fixed until they are all gone. Why do we need them. Spending will continue without them. They have created a huge bureaucracy that can continue without them. I am sure the Fed will come up with some scheme to keep the doors open. All they have to do is make 17 Trillion dollar coins, to reset the debt to zero and continue printing. Then they can continue on until everyone is broke or an expatriate. The one sure fire solution to class warfare is to destroy all the classes. That is probably why they are so intent on amnesty. That would create a natural traffic jam at the border. From people heading down to Mexico looking for a better life. And those heading North in search for the same thing.

We do not need a new Constitution. All we need is to abide by the Constitution. It is like ignoring the laws on murder and rape to increase the problem. Then saying we need new laws to address these issues. How about ignoring laws on immigration, then fixing the problem with immigration reform and amnesty. I can not fault anyone for wanting to come to a country that they see as offering them a better life.  However, to act as a relief valve for that country to drive their “undesirables” away, does not solve that countries social issues. It just makes it possible for that country to continue it’s own form of oppression on those that remain. At least in our country they can safely protest.

Sometimes, it feels like this is all self perpetuating. Ignore the problem until it becomes critical, then ride in with guns blazing and introduce another program to save the day. Failing that, trump up the issue with antidotal evidence and rush in to save the country with… you guessed it a new program and another bureaucracy. I guess it makes sense. If your business is government. Then to grow your business than you need to grow government.

There is a kind of bitter irony to all this. That is that we are always doing this for the children. Well, the children are the ones who will have to pick up the pieces of our mess and try to make a go of it. Hopefully, they will be able to learn from our mistakes. If they are not trying to sneak across another countries border to seek a better life.
